Northern Star Generation (“NSG”) recognizes the importance of identifying and managing Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) issues throughout its operations. NSG believes positive ESG practices are important for reducing risk and enhancing the value of its assets. Environmental performance and compliance, worker safety and welfare, community involvement, and owner representation in the governance of each asset have long been and will continue to be critical factors in the management and success of NSG.

For each asset, NSG regularly monitors ESG factors and, where appropriate, takes actions to mitigate any identified risk related to:

ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Air Quality
  • Greenhouse Gas
  • Water Resources
  • Waste
  • Energy
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Material Sourcing and Resource Efficiency
  • Physical Risk

SOCIAL

  • Community
  • Health and Safety
  • Stakeholders

GOVERNANCE

  • Governance based on NSG‘s Code of Conduct

The owners participate in the GRESB annual assessment for NSG.  GRESB, an investor-driven organization committed to assessing the ESG performance of real assets globally, conducted its first annual infrastructure assessment program for year 2015. The annual assessment provides for objective scoring and peer benchmarking of ESG performance of infrastructure companies and funds.
